01 - Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
02 - In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves.
03 - In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
04 - Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well incorporated.
05 - Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
06 - In a small bowl, combine the rolling sugar and cinnamon.
07 - Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough and roll into balls. Roll each ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat.
08 - Place dough balls 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets.
